Senate Concurrent Resolution 660

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING BOB HUTSON FOR HIS SERVICE ON THE COMMISSION ON ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY AND FOR HIS EFFORTS IN NATURAL RESOURCES CONSERVATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION.

WHEREAS, Governor Kirk Fordice appointed Bob Hutson to serve on the Commission on Environmental Quality in 1993; and

WHEREAS, in July, 1998, Bob Hutson was elected as the Chairman of the Commission on Environmental Quality and will conclude his service in that position in June, 1999; and

WHEREAS, prior to his service on the Commission on Environmental Quality, he served as Director of the Natural and Environmental Resources Division for the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation for twenty-four years and also served as Director of Information Division of Farm Bureau; and

WHEREAS, he was a key participant in the development of programs for the disposal of waste pesticide containers and waste pesticides and for water quality testing in rural private drinking water wells; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hutson has advised the Legislature on numerous environmental protection and natural resource issues, particularly with regard to their impact on Mississippi agriculture; and

WHEREAS, Bob currently serves as a member of the Mississippi Water Resources Advisory Council and the Pearl River Basin Development District Board of Directors and has served on several water resources management planning efforts in the past; and

WHEREAS, he has been recognized for his efforts in the establishment of joint water management districts in the Yazoo-Mississippi Delta and in the Pearl River Basin; and

WHEREAS, he has served on numerous regional and national advisory committees on environmental protection and natural resource issues and has served as a guest speaker and lecturer on those issues at community colleges and universities in the state; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hutson served in the United States Army and retired from military service in 1986 as a Lieutenant Colonel; and

WHEREAS, Bob Hutson is married to Sarah Lyle Hutson, who has been active and supported him in his efforts; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend the exemplary service of the citizens of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Bob Hutson on his distinguished service and tireless dedication as a member and Chairman of the Commission on Environmental Quality and for his many efforts in natural resources conservation and environmental protection and wish him success in his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Bob Hutson.
